“I personally think unions are good,” Little said. He became a radio dispatcher working the graveyard shift at Greyhound’s Charleston terminal. “It got to the point where I had to find another job,” he said. He had joined other Union Carbide workers, members of the International Association of Machinists, to picket the company. Ironically, a prolonged strike at Union Carbide prompted Little to seek employment at Greyhound. While studying, Little worked part time as a chemical operator for American Viscose and Union Carbide Corp. “The idea of my generation at that time was to get a good job at a good company and stay with it.” I wanted to be in management,” Little said.
